Submitting to a funding agency that does not allow vertebrate animal approval dates to be designated “Pending” or if submission as “Pending” is a concern for the PI.
If the research proposal has an associated IACUC protocol:

Submit the final proposal along with a Request for Research Proposal/IACUC Protocol Review form to the IACUC Sponsored Research Analyst (SRA) via email to IACUC@yale.edu or a hard copy to The IACUC Office, 300 George St., 6th Floor 30 days prior to the proposal submission deadline date to allow time in the event that a protocol needs to be modified.

If the animal research in the proposal does not have an associated IACUC Protocol:

Submit a new IACUC protocol along with the Request for Research Proposal/IACUC Protocol Review form to the SRA no less than 60 days prior to the proposal submission deadline date to allow time for the processing of a new IACUC protocol.

Note : Live vertebrate animal approval dates designated as Pending are considered unacceptable to only a small subset of funding agencies. Most investigators will be able to utilize a “just in time” process for grant to protocol comparison.
